- Reduction in time required to tighten assemblies
- Increased productivity of process units
- A proactive approach to joint integrity
- Closure certification and all required calculations
Critical Closure? Be sure to close it…..
Properly – CARBER Controlled Bolting System delivers the same load to each fastener in the pattern to ensure each bolt received the proper share of the load.
Accurately – The CARBER Controlled Bolting System takes the guesswork out of bolting. Accurate preload is essential to the successful completion of each bolted connection.
Quickly – CARBER utilizes hydraulic power, not muscle power. This allows the job to be done without fatigue and in less time.
Safely – The equipment utilized by CARBER eliminates hammers, dangerous slugging wrenches, and cheater pipes. This makes the bolting process safer and helps prevent lost time accidents
Quietly – The CARBER Controlled Bolting System produces no impacts or vibration, which can be detrimental in obtaining proper connection closure.
As the experts in the field, CARBER brings the best of what technology offers, as well as the technicians – dedicated, experienced and certified. CARBER has the resources and experience to execute virtually any bolting situation 24 hours a day.
CARBER maintains a rigid Quality Assurance program which exceeds prevailing industrial standards for both nuclear and non-nuclear work. All field personnel participate in formal training programs aimed at indoctrinating the employee to special technology as well as updating their skills as new developments evolve.
CARBER has the extraordinary flexibility to select and provide the best equipment available; allowing our technicians the ability to adapt in any situation and complete the job right the first time.
Achieving the correct load on any fastener accurately and safely is much more complex than it appears. There are many factors to overcome such as thread deflection, embedment relaxation, gasket creep, and other direct load losses. CARBER Controlled Bolting Services applies the most accurate and time-effective torque tightening technology to service your equipment while overcoming friction variables.
Torque tightening uses the turning moment of a nut on the inclined plane of the thread at a predetermined force to load the fasteners, thus overcoming variables created by friction.
Bolt tensioning is the method of putting direct axial force on the fastener assembly without the influence of friction. A major advantage of controlled hydraulic bolt tensioning is not only the mathematically precise tensioning of the stud or bolt, but also the ability to simultaneously tension 4, 6, 8, 12 or more bolts. This allows for simultaneous closure (10%, 20%, 25%, 50% or 100%) of the bolted connection.
CARBER has a supply of hydraulic tensioners and hydraulic torque wrenches necessary to preload standard size bolts and studs. Advanced materials are used in the design of our equipment to minimize size and weight which allows site operations to proceed quickly and efficiently. For smaller stud sizes, we have manual torque wrenches and torque multipliers available.
CARBER also employs the use of ultrasonic extensometers to measure bolt preload. These units provide an on-site printed evaluation of each bolt in a flange. The ultrasonic extensometer print-out identifies load, stress, and elongation. This information can later be downloaded electronically for permanent records.
CARBER Controlled Bolting Service can design, develop and manufacture specialized hydraulic tooling for applications where standard industry tooling will not work.
